We just threw our money down for Maker Faire 2010. Tickets/flights/hotel. You should come too. It’s going to be awesome! Any doubts? Check out my blog postings from last year’s Faire.

Ping me with your travel plans when you actually book it. It will be cool to link up all the Canadians at the Faire.

Details on our travel plans after the break…

When: the Faire is May 22 and 23, however we’re flying out Wednesday (19th) night and returning Monday (24th). Planning to hit Techshop, Noisebridge, and Gus needs to go to Berkely for a bit.

Where: the Faire is in San Mateo, California. We fly into San Francisco (SFO).

Flights:
May 19
Depart Buffalo (BUF) 6:30pm, Continental 5803 to Cleveland
Depart Cleveland (CLE) 9:00pm, Continental 609 to San Fran
Arrive SFO at 11:08pm

May 24
Depart San Fran (SFO) 8:20am, Delta 2280 to Detroit
Depart Detroit (DTW) 5:25pm, Delta 7228 to Buffalo
Arrive BUF at 6:42pm

Flights booked via Travelocity

Hotel: Crowne Plaza Foster City-San Mateo, Foster City, CA 94404. Be sure you’re getting the Maker Faire group rate.

Cost:

  • Event ticket: US$35 now ($50 at the gate)
  • Drive to BUF: gas + tolls
  • Parking at BUF: $US10/day to weekly max of $50
  • Flights: US$270 return (includes taxes and fees), much cheaper to leave on Wed. We optimized for price.
  • Hotel: US$100/night/room
  • Food: San Fran is a bit pricier than T.O. to eat out. I bought groceries there last year. Way cheap. Let’s say US$40/day
  • Transit: free shuttle to hotel from SFO (watch out for costly cab fares from airport). Free bus (I think) from hotel to Faire. From SFO you can jump on the BART to get around. To go further you can take Caltrain. Locally, you can take SamTrans pretty cheaply.
  • Other: you’ll want some cash to buy kits/books/etc at the Faire. You’ll also want some cash to drink beer with us.

    ROADTRIP!

    Happy making,
     DW
