The crazy show before the show...

You know the old observation that a duck that glides serenely across the water is actually paddling like hell below? Yeah, we did some of that this week. Now that Jack's work is displayed beautifully in kwartzlab I can tell you that Gus, Ed, Ben, and I burnt the candles at every end prepping for the event.

Once the screens were built, they had to be hung. Level. Well.. visually level. With equidistant interframe spacing. Ed's genius came in here when he suggested using turnbuckles to do fine-adjustment of the frame height. Coarse adjustment was just removing links.

More after the break...

The lab was jammed tonight with kwartzlab supporters and friends, both new and old. Thanks so much to everyone for coming out to celebrate with us.

I've never seen so many people in the space before. Lots of projects were on display, generating lots of great questions and discussion.

Yup, that's right: kwartzlab is open!

kwartzlab_members_get_keys 003

A great crowd came out on Monday night to pay their first dues, for September, and get their keys.

If you have paid your $100 initial fee and still want to be a member, you must:

  • pay your $52.50 for September (rent is due, guys!)
  • fill out the revised membership form
  • fill out the financial audit waiver (if we all agree we don't need a formal audit, we will save $1500 - almost 2 months rent!)
  • get voted into the corporation by the board
  • pick up your keys

Join us at the board meeting, Friday Sep 4 at 7:30pm to get 'er done.
