Use an inkjet printer to make PCBs!I just came across this website by way of hackaday.com, that details experiments on using an inject printer to print etch resist directly onto copper clad boards: http://www.pabr.org/pcbprt/pcbprt.en.html I think this would be fantastic to get working, and would be a valuable tool to have in the hackerspace.

CNC PCboard Manufacturing
Hi
I agree that a green approach to PCB Manufacturing has some real exciting possibilities. I would like to get rid of the chemicals.
I have a new way to make PCBs.
I will be comming to the Thursday meeting, and hope to see you there!!!

Hey Frank,
Did you bring your gear to any meetings? What did you come up with?
Ink Jet Resist
This may not work well, Ink jet ink is very special, it has several properties that allow it to bubble on the surface of the head and not dry prematurely. If the resist is watered down enough to pass through the head, it may not provide sufficient layer to work effectively.
However, I make pcb's using a laser printer, transparencies, and pre-resist boards. I design the pcb using PCPaint, I print proofs, to get the scale, exactly right, print the transparencie, expose the board using an ordinary flourescent light, etch the board, and clean it. It takes about an hour.
If anyone would like to have a session of PCB making, let me know, I can arrange it.

Anyone with me to try to figure this out?

Well, we could try it, or go straight to a CNC circuit board mill and skip all the messy chemical steps completely...
.5mm
Nobody hates the nasty chemicals more than me, but I don't think we can produce .5mm pitch footprints with a mill. I'd love to try getting a inkjet to print on pcb.
