Initial Space Prep
The following need to be done, before we can move in:
Unit Door
-
The unit has a double door which is not properly secured. Do *not* leave anything valuable in the space until this is fixed!Deadbolt installed. Nice work, boys.
Windows
-
Most of the windows need scraping/cleaning - 10 Panes need to be replaced (9 1/4" x 21 1/4") -- talk to landlord
- Damaged sills
- Exterior of windows need:
- frames scraped of lose paint (careful, in some cases that's what holds the panes in)
- windex cleaning
- new caulking (there are 6 tubes of clear exterior caulk and caulking gun at the lab)
-
fans - can we get a couple of those floor fans that will fit in the window? We need to move some air in/out of the workshop area
Electrical
- A number of the outlets need covers installed.
-
Electrical should be tested for site faultsSome outlets are reverse polarity and have been marked for repair. - Need 4x Fluorescent Tubes (Model F34T12 Cool White)
-
Trace possible intercom/existing alarm cabling
Plumbing
-
Laundry sink plumbing needs to be sealed properly - Need small water heater for sink(s)
Walls
- Drywall filler & paint/glue scraping
-
some magic marker graffiti which needs to be cleaned - primer & paint (Ben will check the recycling place to see if they have white)
- Baseboards for all walls
Floors
- Workshop floor needs to be washed, possibly sealed
- Linoleum in Kitchen needs to be stapled down in spots, painted
- Floor in lounge area needs to be coated with something (rubberized paint?)
Clean up
-
Clean the crap out of the moat outside the windows -
Remove all existing garbage bags -
Sweep floors, mop kitchen area/bathrooms -
Clean bathrooms, kitchen sinks -
Ben will have wood, plastic debris removedClean as a whistle (who invented that saying??) -
Need fridge picked up on garbage day (need to call city and let them know -- free) -
Trade oven for toaster oven ;)
Security System
- RFID keycard system with manual backup in case of system failure/power outage
- some way to lock the windows - even drilling a hole in the frame track and inserting a nail would be better than what we have now.
