Who wants to do some casting!
Mike Hornsey, whom you may remember from a few weeks ago when he brought
in resin cast samples, would like to do a series of workshops for us
next Tuesday, starting with Mold Making this Tuesday Open Night(workshop
1, ), Casting the next Tuesday(workshop 2), and photo etching the week
People can watch or buy materials and cast along with us! I will be
getting kits and materials from sculpturesupplies.com this Saturday
morning, so if you'd like to do casting, please let me know if you'd
like to do a small (the size of an apple or smaller), or a medium (about
the size of a grapefruit), and you can buy kits from me on the Tuesday.
See pricelist below.
Bring an object that you want cast and have some fun!
This Tuesday bring the object that you want to cast. We will be making
the mold of it, and since it takes 24 hours for the mold to cure, the
workshop will continue the following TON with the Casting portion of the
program (where you will cast your item in resin)
-Mold Max 40 Kit #2 is $40.00* for a quart kit. (this is the rubber
compound for making your mold in Workshop 1)
-Smooth Cast 300 is $32.00* for a pint kit. (this is the resin portion
for making the final object in workshop 2)
I'll be getting it in white and clear amber.
-Pigments for the resin come in 2 oz bottles for $17.00* and are
available in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, brown, black,
white. Mike has also suggested food colouring, as he's had good results
with it in the past.
*prices include taxes and shipping, aka my rental car to Toronto. They
have 4 Mold Max 40 kits and 5 Smooth Cast kits in stock right now, so
I'll pre-pay and buy them out ^_^. You can pay by cash or credit card
(which will be processed by my store, Queen of Hearts Costumes) when you
buy the materials at TON. Because their stock is limited, sharing kits
between people is suggested. The pigments I will be picking when I pick
up the order, so let me know what pigment you want.
Please look at the website and let me know if you want other things, and
I'll be happy to pick them up at the same time as the workshop order!
Questions, comments, please email or call 519-886-0014(store)
