[KwartzAnnounce] Electrical Update

[Kwartzlab Members Announce List]

The Board has reviewed 3 quotes for upgrading our Heavy Equipment Room 
to 100amp service, and selected an electrician to work with. We've also 
approved spending up to $2000 for this work, but hope to get in in for 
less by providing the electrician with donated cabling and other materials.

Our Fearless Leader will be getting a detailed materials list, which 
we'll be sharing with you shortly. We will be looking for cabling, 
conductors, breakers, panels, and conduit of some spec. If you think you 
may have something appropriate, please keep an eye out for future 
emails. Once we have the list in hand, we'll have a fairly tight 
deadline for determining what we can source ourselves.

The remaining question is whether we want 3-phase service, or if 
single-phase will suit our needs. If we are unable to find a donation of 
appropriate materials, 3-phase will cost several hundred more (going 
above our current $2000 limit). If we don't need 3-phase, this is money 
which could go towards other improvements (better lighting, ventilation) 
or tool purchases.

Do any of the tools which we are currently looking to install, or expect 
to acquire within the next couple of years, actually require 3-phase?
