I often wonder if people who advertise events on Facebook are even aware that non-facebook people can't see their ads...

I ran into a similar situation last month when a bunch of us went to visit the London makerspace: I found that I could not look at their calendar events (including one for their public open night) because I was not a member of Google something-or-other...
