A close-up photo reveals that the chip is a DS2762A so this software recommendation might actually be correct.

Now, are we sure our thermocouple board uses the DS2760 "High-Precision Li+ Battery Monitor" chip? This is what this particular web page is for.

I was under the impression we had a MAX6675 "Cold-Junction-Compensated K-Thermocouple-to-Digital Converter (0°C to +1024°C)".
