[KwartzLab] Supplies for rug/latch hooking?

One of my kids was interested in making a rug, but we're having
trouble locating supplies.

Anyone know where we can locally buy the cut yarn and rug backing (a
very course, stiff mesh).

We already have the hooks, and were not interested in pre-made kits as
we were going to create our own patterns.

We've looked at Michael's and Lens Mills (here in Waterloo, not
Cambridge yet) already.
