Oh! That way of doing double treadles did not occur to me! This avoids needing the double crank.
This looks more durable than the other one, actually, since the wheel appears to have proper bearings and the frame gives more direct connection between all the components.
I would make one change though... I would make the block joining the main upright to the base taller, so the pivot for the treadle connecting arm would attach to it; the long pivot pin in the picture looks like a source of flex (and thus wasted effort). Or maybe I would move the connecting arm down so it is below the pedals; the pedals would just rest on it so two connecting links would be eliminated.
