$54 for 2 "carrier sheets" seems excessive.  I would try taping your
paper or card stock to another piece of card stock to act as the
carrier.  Then you adjust the knife so that it cuts only the first
layer.  Should work.  If the cardboard is sufficiently thick, you
might need the 60 degree blade.
