I should hope so! DXF *is* AutoCAD's non-binary save format! Of course that doesn't necessarily mean they couldn't screw it up...
Of course just saying that you want a DXF file isn't really a sufficient description without specifying what sort of drawing entities (points, line, polylines, embedded bit-map images, etc) the laser-cutter software will recognize and what it will do with them.
