[KwartzLab] Status of the Scientific American magazines in the Lab

There has been a bin of old (1970-1980's vintage) Scientific American magazines sitting in the lab for several months now.
I was wondering if there was any intended use for these, or if they were free for the taking.
I have a few gaps in my collection at home and I would like to fill them in. Not being a member, any magazines I took would be replaced by a contribution to the donations tin, of course.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
