[KwartzLab] experience w RasPi + webcam + wifi?

I haven't tried anything on the wireless side but I've been trying to
get the raspi to stream using the same type of webcam (logitech 9000)
that we have at the lab. It seems to have a hard time encoding and
streaming at the same time. I've had more luck running the camera
through a more powerful computer that re-encodes the stream. I haven't
tried overclocking the Pi itself though. I'm also not certain that
hardware encoding is actually working.

I had the best luck powering with a Playbook charger. I could run the
webcam, keyboard and mouse all off the USB without connection issues.

I need to get some wifi-enabled webcams going for a show and this seems like a $50/cam solution with a lot of flexibility if it works. I'm aware of challenges lighting up raspi wifi *without* a powered hub. Any help much appreciated.
